BalanceBuddy Privacy Policy

Overview

BalanceBuddy helps you record and review personal financial information. This policy explains the app's current data handling.

Information you enter

The app may store account names and balances, institution labels, transactions, merchant or description text, dates, amounts, categories, notes, budgets, recurring schedules, import mappings, rules, reconciliations, and balance history. BalanceBuddy does not connect directly to financial institutions and does not ask for bank login credentials.

Device and iCloud storage

BalanceBuddy stores app-managed records on your device using Apple's SwiftData technology and uses a private Apple CloudKit database to synchronize and store those records in your Apple/iCloud environment. Apple services process and store this data under Apple's terms and privacy practices. Synchronization may make records available on eligible devices signed in to the same Apple Account.

Subscriptions

Apple's StoreKit and App Store services process purchases, introductory offer eligibility, Family Sharing, restores, and entitlement status. The developer does not receive your full payment card details from BalanceBuddy.

Imports, exports, backups, and sharing

You may choose a CSV file to import. You may also create a transaction CSV containing dates, display names, original descriptions, amounts, transaction types, account and category names, notes, and recurring names. Full JSON backups may contain accounts, categories, transactions, recurring items, budgets, mapping and transaction rules, reconciliations, and balance snapshots.

Import, export, backup, and sharing actions are initiated by you. You choose the file or destination through Apple system interfaces, which may include Files, iCloud Drive, external storage, or a non-Apple recipient or service. BalanceBuddy does not encrypt exported CSV or JSON files. A destination or recipient you select may access and retain its copy under its own practices.

Support email

You may voluntarily email support. Eric Walker receives the information you include, and the sender's and recipient's email providers may process that correspondence. BalanceBuddy does not automatically send financial records or other app data to support.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The examined app contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, crash reporting SDK, or cross-app tracking code. Its privacy manifest declares that tracking is not used. BalanceBuddy does not sell user information.

Retention and deletion

Records remain in the app's device and iCloud storage until you edit or delete them, erase all app data, remove them through your Apple/iCloud environment, or Apple applies its service retention practices. Deletions made in BalanceBuddy are designed to synchronize through iCloud. Copies you exported or shared must be managed at their destinations; BalanceBuddy cannot remotely delete a recipient's copy.

Children

BalanceBuddy is a general personal finance tool and is not designed to collect information from children. A parent or guardian should supervise any child's use of financial tools and Apple services.

Changes

This policy may be updated when the app's verified behavior or applicable requirements change.
